According to Baidu Baike, Ji Bozai is the true crown prince of Yaoguang, the son of Empress Jing Shu. He was born without spiritual veins, and the Empress took in Ming Xian and raised her as her son to protect her own position. Bo Yulan, who resented the Empress, abandoned the baby, then rescued and trained him out of guilt. She later died making the antidote Huangliang Meng. Ming Yi, for her part, is the daughter of her master, She Tianlin, and of Bo Yucen. Situ Ling's real name is Chao Yuan, and he is the youngest son of Chao Heng, lord of Zhushui Lingzhou.
