Editorial Policy

How C-Drama Compass researches, writes, and checks its drama guides: official sources only, verdicts from people who watched, and layered spoilers.
Last updated

This page explains how we decide what to cover, where our information comes from, and the standards every page has to meet before it goes live.

Independence

Our coverage choices and verdicts are made by our editors. Streaming platforms, studios, and advertisers don't pay for coverage, don't review pages before publication, and can't change a verdict. If we ever receive a screener or review access from a platform, we will say so on the page.

Who decides a verdict

Verdicts (Must Finish, Worth It, Skim the Middle, Safe to Drop), ending labels, and "skip these episodes" advice come only from an editor who has watched the drama. When we label an ending without having finished the show ourselves, the page says so and names the kind of sources we relied on, such as consistent accounts from Douban discussions and the platform's official episode summaries. The full definitions are on How We Rate.

Sources

  • Where to watch: the platform's own page, checked for each country we cover. Every listing shows the date we last checked it, and we recheck airing shows every few days.
  • Air dates and episode counts: official platform announcements, official social media accounts of the platform or production, and the production company's announcements.
  • Ratings: Douban and MyDramaList, recorded by hand with the date. We don't average, convert, or combine them.
  • Novel information: the original publishing platform's listing and, where one exists, the official English publisher.
  • Background and production details: named news reporting, linked from the page. When something is reported rather than confirmed, we say "reportedly."

We don't treat other English-language drama sites, user-edited encyclopedias, or AI-generated answers as sources.

Official viewing only

We link only to official streaming services and official YouTube channels run by rights holders. We never link to unauthorized uploads or unofficial streaming sites, and we don't recommend ways around regional licensing. If a drama isn't officially available in your country, we say so.

Spoilers

Spoilers are hidden by default and come in three levels, explained on How We Rate. Page titles, descriptions, overviews, verdict lines, and social images never contain spoilers.

Use of AI tools

We may use AI tools to help translate Chinese-language sources, summarize research notes, and check drafts against our style rules. AI tools don't watch dramas, assign verdicts or ending labels, or supply facts such as dates, platforms, or ratings. Every published sentence is reviewed and approved by a human editor, who is responsible for it.

Original writing

Our overviews and reviews are written from scratch. We don't copy or lightly rewrite official synopses, and we check drafts against platform descriptions to avoid accidental overlap. Images come only from official sources such as platform pages and official accounts, credited on the page.

Corrections

When we get something wrong, we fix it and, for significant errors, note the correction on the page and in our public log. See our corrections policy. You can report an issue from any page.
