What data C-Drama Compass collects, why, how long we keep it, and your choices: anonymous votes, minimal forms, and consent-based analytics and ads.
Last updated

We try to collect as little about you as possible. This page explains what we do collect, why, how long we keep it, and who else handles it. The site is run by the C-Drama Compass team, which is responsible for your data.

Things that stay in your browser

Your preferences, such as your country, the streaming services you use and your spoiler setting, are saved in your browser's local storage. So is My list (the dramas you saved, their status and the episode you're on) unless you sign in. None of this is sent to us. Clearing your browser data removes it.

Signing in with Google

Signing in is optional. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google, and we store them with your list so you can see it on other devices. We never see your Google password. When you first sign in, the list saved in your browser is added to your account. From My list you can download everything we hold about your account as a file, sign out, or delete your account. Deleting it removes your account, sessions and list straight away; your past votes and questions stay as anonymous entries.

Viewer votes

You can vote on whether you finished a drama, the episode you're on, why you stopped, how you think an airing drama will end and whether you liked its ending, without signing in. Votes are anonymous. To allow one vote per device, your browser stores a random device ID in local storage and sends it with your vote. To limit abuse, we also store a hashed version of your IP address combined with the date; the hashing method rotates daily, so it can't be used to follow you across days, and we delete the hash after 30 days. Votes flagged as suspicious are deleted after 90 days.

Questions, feedback and where-to-watch checks

When you tell us whether a page answered your question, we store your answer, the page and your device ID. When you ask a question, we also store your question and, only if you give it, your email address, which we use to send you the answer and delete 12 months later. When you confirm whether a streaming service works where you are, we store your answer, the drama, the service, your country as reported by Cloudflare, your device ID and a hashed IP address handled as for votes.

Issue reports

When you use Report a problem, we store your report and the page it refers to. Your email address is optional. If you give one, we use it only to tell you when the issue is handled, and we delete it 12 months after we've handled the report.

Contact messages

Messages sent through our contact form, including your name and email, are kept for 24 months and then deleted.

Forms on this site use Cloudflare Turnstile, an automated check that blocks spam without asking you to solve puzzles.

Newsletter

If you subscribe to our newsletter or ask for a reminder, we store your email address, the page you signed up on, your country as reported by Cloudflare and, for a reminder, the drama and date it is for. We first send one email asking you to confirm; if you don't, the request is deleted after 7 days. Emails are sent through Cloudflare's email service. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing deletes your address and any reminders straight away. A sent reminder is deleted 30 days later. We don't track opens or clicks in these emails.

Analytics and advertising

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are useful and Google AdSense to show ads. Both run with Google Consent Mode. Where the law requires it, including for visitors in the UK, the EEA, and Switzerland, we ask for your consent first through a consent banner, and analytics and ad cookies are not set until you agree. If you decline, Google receives only limited, cookieless signals. You can change your choice at any time using the privacy settings link in the site footer.

Details on cookies are in our cookie policy.

Hosting

The site is served through Cloudflare, which processes technical data such as IP addresses to deliver pages and protect the site from attacks.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you, or to object to how we use it. To make a request, use our contact page. Because votes are anonymous, we generally can't link a vote to you, but we will help with any data tied to an email address.

Children

The site is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
