Chinese dramas on Viki

Rakuten Viki is a streaming service built around Asian dramas. Of the Chinese dramas we track, Viki carries more than any other service, including older and mid-budget series that never reached Netflix.

Viki mixes free and paid access. When we checked from the US in October 2026, most of the older dramas we track were free to watch with ads, while several 2025 and 2026 releases needed Viki Pass. Viki Pass removes the ads. Standard streams in 720p on one device, and Plus adds 1080p, four devices and offline viewing. Licenses differ by country, so a drama that is free in one region can be paid or missing in another. Our Where to Watch panel shows the access type we found for your region.

Viki's subtitles are its signature. They are made by a volunteer community of translators and editors rather than a single vendor, which is why a show can have English subtitles plus a dozen other languages, and why subtitles for a brand-new episode sometimes arrive after the video. The on-screen comments, called timed comments, are optional and can be switched off.

Viki is a strong choice if you want older classics, more subtitle languages, or a way to start a show without paying first.
