Chinese Dramas Like Pursuit of Jade

Pursuit of Jade starts small: a butcher in a market town takes in a wounded stranger, marries him for convenience, and finds out he is a hunted marquis. Then it grows into a war and court epic, with a heroine who fights her way up. It reached a huge audience abroad through Netflix. If you finished it and want more, the closest matches in our catalog are Generation to Generation, which opens on nearly the same rescue, Love Like the Galaxy, with its equally sharp heroine, and Key to the Phoenix Heart, another marriage built on suspicion. Further down are dramas that share its leads, Zhang Linghe and Tian Xiwei, or one part of its appeal. Each blurb says what fits and what doesn't, and nothing on this page reveals how any of these stories end.

1. Generation to Generation

江湖夜雨十年灯 · 2026 · 37 episodes
WeTVWeTVWeTVWeTV

A rescued stranger, a hidden name and an old massacre

Generation to Generation opens on almost the same setup as Pursuit of Jade. Cai Zhao, a girl from Luoying Valley, rescues a poisoned young man who survived a massacre, and the two set out to find who was behind it while he hides who he really is. Like Xie Zheng, he has a title of his own waiting for him, in his case a sect. The difference is the genre. This is a wuxia drama about sects and old feuds rather than armies and a royal court, and Chinese viewers praised its photography and music more than its plot. Bao Shangen and Zhou Yiran lead its 37 episodes.

2. Love Like the Galaxy

星汉灿烂 · 2022 · 56 episodes
VikiWeTVVikiWeTVVikiWeTVVikiWeTV

A heroine who argues back, at court and at war

Our Pursuit of Jade page recommends it to fans of this drama, and the match runs both ways. Cheng Shaoshang, played by Zhao Lusi, is a general's daughter left behind with relatives as a child, and she grows up sharp, practical and unwilling to be talked down to. Ling Buyi, Wu Lei's cold commander of the palace guard, is the man with a secret. Like Pursuit of Jade, it mixes a funny, quarrelsome romance with family feuds, court politics and war, and the couple are equals. It is much longer, at 56 episodes, and spends more of that time on household life.

3. Key to the Phoenix Heart

雀骨 · 2026 · 28 episodes
iQIYIiQIYIiQIYIiQIYI

A marriage neither trusts, with a conspiracy behind it

Key to the Phoenix Heart runs on the same engine as Pursuit of Jade: a marriage neither lead trusts, with a conspiracy behind it. Xiao Wuyi, a general reported killed at the border, comes back to the capital and forces a marriage on Xie Jiayu, the Grand Tutor's foster daughter, partly to learn whether she had a hand in the plot against his army. She has a secret too: she invents and sells mechanical devices under another name. Hou Minghao and Ai Mi lead a tight 28 episodes, and Chinese reviewers praised its original script and its clever characters on both sides.

4. Story of Kunning Palace

宁安如梦 · 2023 · 38 episodes
iQIYIiQIYIiQIYIiQIYI

Zhang Linghe again, as a tutor with a dangerous past

If Zhang Linghe's Xie Zheng is the reason you're here, this is his other big period lead in our catalog. In Story of Kunning Palace he plays Xie Wei, a soft-spoken imperial tutor with a dangerous past, opposite Bai Lu as Jiang Xuening, a minister's daughter reborn at 18 with memories of a first life that went badly. She wants to stay out of the palace, and he keeps pulling her back in. The romance is warier than Pursuit of Jade's, with fewer laughs, but the court scheming and a male lead who hides his real aims will feel familiar. It runs 38 episodes.

5. Glory

玉茗茶骨 · 2025 · 36 episodes
VikiiQIYIVikiiQIYIVikiiQIYIVikiiQIYI

A lost magistrate hiding in the heroine's household

Glory turns the rescue that starts Pursuit of Jade into a household drama. Lu Jianglai, a young magistrate, is injured, loses his memory and is taken in by the Rong tea family as a stable hand under a new name. Rong Shanbao, played by Gulnazar, runs that family and decides who marries into it. As in Pursuit of Jade, the heroine holds the power at the start and the man she takes in is not who he seems. The setting is a tea-trade clan with a mystery underneath rather than a war. Reviewers liked the costumes and the women of the house but found the plot logic loose. Hou Minghao leads its 36 episodes.

6. Where the Mask Ends

嫁金钗 · 2026 · 30 episodes
NetflixNetflixNetflixNetflix

Tian Xiwei again, as a stand-in bride

Tian Xiwei, who plays Fan Changyu, leads this one too, in a very different part. Where the Mask Ends is a stand-in bride story. She plays A Chou, a street-smart young woman who grew up poor and marries into a duke's household under another woman's name, and she also plays the woman she replaces. Her husband, Yan An's Lu Zhuo, is a decorated general who wakes from a coma on their wedding night and has every reason to suspect her. Like Pursuit of Jade, it is a marriage built on a lie between two people with secrets. It is shorter, at 30 episodes, and closer to a household drama.

7. Tigers Sniff the Rose

尚公主 · 2026 · 23 of 40 out
Airing nowVikiWeTVVikiWeTVVikiWeTVVikiWeTV

A proud princess and the poor scholar she backs

Tigers Sniff the Rose reverses Pursuit of Jade's class gap. Here the woman has the power. Mu Wanyao, Princess Danyang, played by Meng Ziyi, is imperious and bored, and Yan Shang, Li Yunrui's careful, gifted scholar from a fallen family, has nothing. The early episodes stay in the countryside and play their meetings lightly, much as Pursuit of Jade's opening stays in Lin'an. Then the story moves to Chang'an and widens into a court drama about corrupt officials. Be warned that the novel's heroine is difficult and sometimes treats the hero badly. It began airing in October 2026 and runs 40 episodes.

8. Destined

长风渡 · 2023 · 40 episodes
iQIYIiQIYIiQIYIiQIYI

Married by mistake, partners by choice

Destined is the marry-first, fall-in-love-later story that Pursuit of Jade's pretend marriage plays with. Liu Yuru, a cloth merchant's daughter, is married by mistake to Gu Jiusi, a carefree son of a rich Yangzhou family with a playboy reputation, played by Bai Jingting. She learns trade from his mother and pushes him to study, and he turns out sharper than anyone thought. The early episodes are light and comic, and the leads' banter is what reviewers praised most. Later, court politics, a fight over the throne and flood control take over, and English reviewers found the pacing uneven. It runs 40 episodes.

9. The Road to Splendor

花开锦绣 · 2026 · 36 episodes
WeTVWeTVWeTVWeTV

Posing as a married couple on the road

The Road to Splendor shares Pursuit of Jade's pretend marriage and its heroine who works beside the hero rather than waiting to be rescued. Fu Tingyun, a sheltered daughter driven out by a family obsessed with chastity arches, takes to the road with Zhao Ling, a salt smuggler whose family was ruined years ago. Posing as husband and wife, they travel to the northwest frontier and follow a trail of salt fraud up to a Grand Secretary. Chinese reviewers praised the real desert locations and the Ming-style costumes, and complained about uneven pacing. Ding Yuxi and Deng Enxi lead its 36 episodes.

10. Blossoms of Power

百花杀 · 2026 · 36 episodes
VikiWeTVVikiWeTVVikiWeTVVikiWeTV

A pact with a prince who hides his strength

Blossoms of Power is a near-fit for viewers who liked the scheming half of Pursuit of Jade. The only survivor of a massacred family wakes in the body of Shen Xihe, a commandery princess from the northwest, and makes a pact with the Crown Prince, played by He Yu, who has been poisoned since childhood and pretends to be frailer than he is. Like Xie Zheng, he hides how capable he really is. Their romance starts as an alliance amid ledgers, a rebellion and an abduction. Expect more palace intrigue and less of Pursuit of Jade's small-town warmth. Meng Ziyi leads its 36 episodes.

How we picked

We broke Pursuit of Jade's appeal into four parts: a heroine who fights for herself, a relationship that begins as a pretense or a bargain, a male lead who hides who he really is, and a small personal story that grows into court politics or war. We checked every period drama in our catalog against those four points and put the dramas that match the most of them first. Dramas that match one or two points sit lower, along with the ones that share an actor, and their blurbs say which part fits. We didn't order the list by ratings. Use the Watch in filter at the top to see only the dramas you can stream where you are.
